DevOpsMtl, “Get Back to Work” edition

DevOpsMtl is back now that the summer is finally coming to an end! ;-) As usual, the meetup is taking place at CloudOps, at 420 Rue Guy.

Exceptionally, the event will be taking place on September 8th, the second Monday of the month, because the first Monday is Labour day. Our sponsors this month are Chronogolf (food & beverages) and  CloudOps (space). Merci aux deux compagnies!

This month we have 3 short presentations. If you’d like to pitch in and do a lightning talk, you’re more than welcome!

Securely managing secrets with FreeIPA and Puppet
Description: An overview of the various options for sharing secrets with Puppet. Present a better solution based around FreeIPA*.

* I thought there was no such thing as a free beer.

Create your orchestration galaxy with Ansible
Description: Ansible-Galaxy is a good tool for the reuse and sharing of roles. However,  it has some limitations. This presentation will show you a solution for managing Ansible roles across your organization.
Par Gerardo Cepeda (@gcepor)

LogStash – You Don’t Need to Deploy it to Use it
Description: I recently had to investigate an issue after the fact. Here’s how I whipped up a local LogStash setup, to help me easily make sense of a month of logs.
Par Mathieu Martin (@webmat, blog)

Lightning talk: you?

If you’ve discovered something cool recently, and would like to share it with everyone, feel free to come do an impromptu 1m or 5m lightning talk. You can come as unprepared as you want. It’ll be fun!

If you’re looking for that special person to join your team, you’re welcome to come in front of everyone and pitch us about your awesome opportunities! We’re an equal opportunity group: you have 5 minutes too ;-)
